We are an alternative rock band plying our trade in original material. We have give or take about 20 songs in our repretoire and are on the cusp of recording (again) and starting to play out. Our current 2nd guitarist has bowed out due to time constraints, so we are looking to backfill the position as soon as possibile. We have both boys and girls in the band, and our ages range from 20-50 so we are not discriminitory- All ages/races/orientations welcome! The material is not rocket science, but we are looking for someone who can pick up the ball and run like a motherfucker with it. Must put the song first above any extraneous fretboard masturbation. We are a ska / 2-tone / dirty reggae band and are looking for a bassist to complete our line-up. At the moment, we are 5 members (drums, keyboard, guitar/vocals, alto sax and trumpet). Most of us have experience in the local ska scene. We play mostly originals (4 original songs so far, 6 more written waiting to be played) and are planning on getting up on stage in the spring, or earlier if possible. We also play a few covers to add a little something to our eventual set list. We are looking for somebody who's motivated, reliable and fun-loving and ideally has experience playing ska and/or reggae (or at least listens to it and knows how to play walking bass). We jam in Montreal every Tuesday and every other Friday. We are open to bassists of all nationality, age, background, guys or girls, etc. Our main influences as far as musical style include The Specials, The Bad Manners, The Slackers, General Rudie, Kman & the 45's and Laurel Aitken.

Rusty Denim, a well established band in the GTA area with many contacts is looking for a new front man or woman. We are a very good drummer, a very good lead guitarist and a very good bassist and we all sing but are admittedly not qualified to carry the lead vocals. That's your department. We prefer a singer that can contribute instrumentally to a flashy front man or woman. Male or female applicants are welcome. We're a band that has done the bar scene and now would like to branch out and do weddings/corporate events & the bar scene as a filler. We all have day jobs so this is not a career. It is for fun and adventure. Our aim is to play 2-3 times a month. What do we play? Well, the guitar player's an R&B soul kinda guy that loves to rock and is arguably one of the best guitar players in the city. Our drummer has a great meter and the backbone to our classic rock setlist. Established rock/pop/indie band with 2 albums out is seeking a new guitarist and bass player. We have played about 100 shows in the last year all across Canada, have done a bunch of the major festivals like CMW, NxNE, Indie Week, etc., and are surrounded by a great business team (management, distribution, pulicity, and radio tracking). We're shifting up the band lineup a bit to me more traditional: one guitar, one bass, one drummer, one vocalist -- at least in a live setting. Writing and studio are an open slate. Some key influences would be Oasis, U2, The Smiths, Pearl Jam, The Cure, Idlewild, Editors, and R.E.M. So, bands that can create a massive sound with very basic elements. All you need to know and more is at www.paintband.com What we're looking for in bandmates: * you're under 30; * you have previous experience playing in bands that released albums commercially, toured, worked with management/bookers, and busted ass; * you live in Toronto and often find yourself out supporting other bands and attending shows a lot; * you recognize that playing in a band isn't a slack job and it takes equal sharing of workload and hustling to get things done; * you're interested in making a memorable live show with emphasis not just on musicianship and communication but stage presence and presentation; * you can learn our back catalogue but can jump into writing new material pretty quickly. A guitarist would need to be creative and talented enough to combine two or more recorded guitar parts into one and still have it sound large and anthemic. So there's lots of room to have some fun to think on your toes, make good use of effects, and create interesting soundscapes. A bass player would need to be very groove-oriented and able to play tastefully, but also able to step up and carry the song. We have a fantastic drummer who will make your life a joy as well! Hey I am the lead guitarist of a young band in mississauga. We have a drummer, bassist and lead guitarist but we are still looking for a singer to join us. Come play in Gamelan Gita Asmara, a community-based performing ensemble of 25 dedicated to the traditional and modern music and dance of Bali, Indonesia. We practice at UBC and play on the traditional instruments illustrated in the photos on our site. We have in residence two extraordinary artists from Bali who teach us: musician Wayan Sudirana and dancer Putu Widiantini, We seek 3-4 new people to complete our established group, but no experience is required. Here's what IS required: 1: availability for rehearsals every Monday and Wednesday from 7 to 9:30 PM plus alternate Sundays from 4:30 to 7 PM. Members must be at all rehearsals. Minimum commitment required is through our spring 2012 concert season. 2: Serious ambitions and potential as a musician, and ability to cooperate in the service of this challenging and beautiful music. All music is learned at rehearsal and there is no notation 3: some group tasks plus yearly $200 dues to support our activities. THIS IS NOT A PAYING GIG--we do it for the love of this culture and the opportunity to work with our teachers.
