Pretzel Logic Babylon Sister Kid Charlemagne Jack of Speed Home at Last Schoolboy Crush ...and more plus more (from other artists) along the same lines (i.e. Herbie, Chick, AWB, Yellowjackets, Metheny, etc.) So...who's with me? Need decent players (bassist w/vox, lead guitar w/vox, rhythm guitar w/vox, drummer w/vox, 2nd keyboard player for horns - w/vox) out there who can make a go of this. I need players who do their homework between rehearsals so we can get our 40 song list together (and tight) a.s.a.p. The amount of rehearsals will be determined by everyone's time allotments (collectively) but once per week should suffice (for now). Ideally, rehearsing at our place but an alternative would be at CHARTS...(cost, equipment moving, travel and time slots) always the deciding factors...TBD. Groove and feel are most important,,,not spending time learning note-for-note....if you don't "feel it", it ain't worth it. Anyone I've run into over the last 3 months has suggested "I" make another go of this So...this time...forget the politics (and perfection), let's just have fun...and make it work. For the guys I worked with before (and, you know who you are)...."I'M BACK" Everybody keeps saying "the corporate scene is the way to go"..but we know that (if the material is too difficult), it'll take forever to get there. So, let all those others focus on the corporate channel. While they're doing that, this band will have hit the stage a few times over (yes...in the bar scene) tightening and getting better while creating the optimum professional show. I think the lower mainland is ready for a change in addition to the standard (country rock and classic rock bands) Once we've got the sound and performance we want, we can go after the corporate channel but for now, let's focus on the task at hand. If we're not having fun...the audience definitely won't. While there is a bit of serious commitment, we should all be looking forward to getting together a few times a week for the common goal. As you can expect, I am one of the "key" components...now I need you guys to work with me (and this time), there's no turning back Note * only those closest to the "ideal fit" will be contacted. Not seeking players who have minimal exposure to this genre or who can only play "exactly" the way the song was recorded. If the process becomes more work than pleasure, what are you really gaining? problem: last time, the band was getting too big - too many over-shadowing issues and politics solution: less players, less politics, better focus and productivity additionally: if you're a writer of this type of music (or are interested in future collaboration), a project like this could be a great way to have your songs performed and worked into the mix. Eventually, it would be great to have a good number of original songs in this style...the concept should have an influence in increasing the size of the band following over time. Better the material to be played and heard rather than sitting on a shelf and being stagnant...better future noticeability for the band. Players from all areas welcome to respond but best suited to players in or close to: Langley, Surrey, Delta, Maple Ridge PoCo, Aldergrove or Abbotsford (who don't have to spend too much time driving to and from rehearsal and dealing with set-up and tear-down time allowances). I mean wouldn't it be great to just have your equipment set up and all you do is come in and play.

Goodnight, Sunrise is looking for a drummer! We're an indie-rock band with sort of a mix of styles including soul, dancey/pop stuff, and a lot of old school rock grooves. We just released our EP. We've played a few shows and gotten kickass reviews, but our drummer had other commitments and is unable to continue with us long term. Our goal is to play a show once a month, practice once a week, and apply to all the festivals for spring/summer (NXNE, CMW, etc). Let's jam!    

We are a ska / 2-tone / dirty reggae band and are looking for a bassist to complete our line-up. At the moment, we are 5 members (drums, keyboard, guitar/vocals, alto sax and trumpet). Most of us have experience in the local ska scene. We play mostly originals (4 original songs so far, 6 more written waiting to be played) and are planning on getting up on stage in the spring, or earlier if possible. We also play a few covers to add a little something to our eventual set list. We are looking for somebody who's motivated, reliable and fun-loving and ideally has experience playing ska and/or reggae (or at least listens to it and knows how to play walking bass). We jam in Montreal every Tuesday and every other Friday. We are open to bassists of all nationality, age, background, guys or girls, etc. Our main influences as far as musical style include The Specials, The Bad Manners, The Slackers, General Rudie, Kman & the 45's and Laurel Aitken.    

I have a short film (1 minute long) which recently played at the Toronto Urban Film Festival. These films were screened in the Toronto subway system so there is no sound, although there is a visual beat of 1 second (60 clips of one second). If you, or someone you know, is interested in trying your hand at scoring this film, I will give you the music credit for upcoming festivals if your score is chosen. Some thoughts: the film starts early morning and ends at nightfall. The rhythm is set up visually and 120bps is most likely the target.
