Mocking the explosion of ego-driven pop stars on the music scene, three Canadian veterans of signed bands have now joined forces to poke fun at the superstar persona and forge a fresh brand of pop rock.
A union born out of friendship, singer/songwriter Ryan Hauschild, former rhythm guitarist for EMI’s Ginger during a tour with Moist, drummer Sid Zanforlin of MCA/Universal’s Me, Mom and Morgentaler and Michael Dewey, former frontman and lead guitarist with Hot Sole Music’s Anomie, have a slash-and-burn approach to songwriting. With Robbie Driscoll on bass guitar, they hack up each others’ ideas to collectively craft unforgettable melodies laced with charming lyrics and uncommon insights. When these self-styled guys share the spotlight, their love of live performance and onstage chemistry is palpable.
Between them, the members of überband have recorded eight records, appeared live on MuchMusic and MusicPlus, filmed six music videos and toured Canada dozens of times.
überband is currently recording their debut CD in Vancouver.
