Formed roughly one year ago, the band is made up of Pat Dube on guitar and lead vocals and Pat Gervais on drums, who were both in a Pop/Punk band called “The Griffins” . At the same time, bassist Derek Douglas was in a Funk/Metal outfit called “Spice of Life”. Now, along with lead guitarist Kirk Calderon, they are Shooting Rubys.

Following in the tradition of great Canadian songwriters such as Blue Rodeo, The Odds, Sloan and Ron Sexsmith. Shooting Rubys have created a PowerPop/Rhythm Rock/Alternative sound using melody, mature arrangements and vocal harmonies. Each member sharing in the song writing and singing, bringing together four separate voices, letting each song stand on it's own. Sliding easily from up-tempo guitar twang to mellow acoustic strumming, to a hard edge crunch.

A long collective history of stage experience, playing in various bands and projects has contributed to giving the band a great versatility and confident stage show.
