The Rude Mechanicals from Charlottetown, PEI, Canada

Genre: "Sharp rock sounds...unique blurring of lounge and pop." - TRM press release

Official site:

News & Events: The boys just played at NXNE in Toronto, where they also shelled out for a booth at the exhibition. Well done!

Year founded: 1998

Record Label: Independent

If you're ready for a new musical landscape, the sharp rock sounds of The Rude Mechanicals are for you. This band's unique blurring of lounge and pop reveals an intelligence and personality that make The Rude Mechanicals an essential listening experience. Their first CD, The Prologue is Addressed, surfaces from the band's reputation as a successful live show, and reflects how quickly bandmates Dennis Ellsworth, Peter Forbes, Mike Mella, Todd MacLean, and Matt McQuaid have become a productive unit.

In less than two years of playing together, The Rude Mechanicals have already shared the bill with such performers as The Watchmen, Ron Sexsmith, Bif Naked, and Emm Gryner. And with an ECMA 2000 showcase on their resume, The Rude Mechanicals stand more poised than ever to bring their sound to the rest of the country, as this group of lyrical Hotspurs seem certain to map out even more musical territory.
