| Biography |
 | Born in the late 1900's, my tragic sister is one of Winnipeg's newest and most exciting bands to hit the music scene this millennium. Evolving from a number of demised bands, Robbie, Mark and Julian clicked right from the start. They seemed to work well on a personal level, a musical level, and more importantly, on a level mostly reserved for close friends. These three spent the first few weeks searching for the perfect singer that would both compliment their unique styles, and at the same time, share the commitment and determination that filled the three of them. After a few unsuccessful attempts they happened upon Nicole. Nicole, having come from a long line of singers, has music genetically encoded in her genes. Not long after uttering her first words, the classically trained Nicole began her progression of singing first from the dinner table, all the way to choirs and vocal jazz groups throughout elementary and high school. Needless to say, all the lessons and the practice have paid off. "Her voice has, in fact, become one of my tragic sister's most recognized trademarks," as quoted by a local reporter.
Shortly after the introduction of Nicole to the band, these four sisters' were ready to leave the basement and join the ranks of other Winnipeg bands, performing in a number of venues around the city.
Live shows have never been a problem with my tragic sister, either in performance or abundance. From their first step out of their practice space, the band has been involved in live performances several times a month, in many instances several times a week, not to mention a trip out to Vancouver, BC, for a spot in the New Music West Festival in May of 1999.
Locally, my tragic sister has also enjoyed much media attention on a number of mediums. During the final stages of their album production they have not only been invited onto some of the city's most popular radio shows, but also featured on the cover of Winnipeg's Uptown Magazine, as well as a live performance on a very widely viewed television program, The Big Breakfast.
With the release of their debut CD, emotion blur, my tragic sister is confident that their acceptance, success, and support will only continue to grow, both locally and across Canada. Going by their track record, my tragic sister is destined to enjoy a very exciting and successful life. |
