| Biography |
| My Buddy Dave consists of vocalist/guitarist Tyler Bancroft, age 14, guitarist Matt Bai, age 14, bassist George J. LaForge, age 15, and drummist (Matt) Clarkee, age 15. In the beginning, there were three. Tyler, Matt, and George, elementary school chums, picked up their instruments, jotted down some chord patterns, and a band was born. Wanting in on this, I took up the drums and was (eventually) accepted. As a crappy drummer with a crappy band, we recorded our first CD on an 8-track under the name Particle. It Blew.
Forever haunted by the Particle incident, we vowed to improve. And improve we did. Over the course of 4 months, the band and I were the subjects of a student-made documentary, we picked up a keyboardist, went through a pile of stupid band names, and were recruited by a "youth foundation" (Greenlight Society of the Arts) as a result of the documentary. Thanks to Greenlight, in May '99 we found ourselves recording an 8 song CD in Bluewave Studios under the name "Spoof".
In December '99 our unamed keyboardist left the band to persue a solo career in Afghanistan.
Losing touch with our greenlight compadres, we recorded 7 new songs on a 4-track in Tyler's basement. On to the new CD we have thrown 1 previously recorded track from our "Spoof" album, and 1 track starring our buddy Dave. - Matt (Clarkee) |
