Biography
LURE, a Canadian power trio out of Edmonton, Alberta that offers some of the most original, groove infested and powerful forms of alternative Rock / Metal on the scene. However you label them, LURE has proven that they have staying power and appeal that covers more than one singular genre of Rock & Roll. This three-piece power offering has an eclectic mix of influences that have helped shape LURE’s rhythm-based material: Infectious songs consisting of catchy guitar, solid bass work and complex drumming. The vocals are deep, aggressive and ever changing. LURE is renowned for their intricate arrangements, and the diverse, soulful feel of their hard-edged music. LURE has a profound effect on crowds. Even though they are complex, they get the entire room moving and responding to the musical energy that flows off the stage when they perform. When LURE performs, people cannot help but listen, crowds groove and no one is immune to the energy of the unique musical style and atmosphere created by the presence of this band on stage.

LURE materialized in November 1995. Tyler and Derrick had been previously playing together for a few months and had established a solid rapport and rhythm connection. After this accomplishment, they decided to recruit a new member and create a band… enter Kyle, the guitarist for LURE. Derrick and Kyle had been partners in previous musical projects and his assimilation into the group was immediate. The three of them meshed well and the writing and creation of song material soon followed. The origin of the name is from a fishing trip both Tyler and Derrick were taking in 1995. While in the car, they passed the time by discussing music, bands and fishing tackle. When LURE surfaced, they knew that this would be the name of their project.

LURE has created an innovative heavy sound style that has successfully built a faithful fan base and following in their local and national scene. LURE has performed in a variety of venues, from small clubs that hold 100 people to large halls with major headliners such as MOTORHEAD. LURE has had the opportunity to perform with many reputable local and out of town talents and their past touring has helped them develop an excellent rapport with other touring artists. Whether they are first or last on the marquee, they have been able to win over crowds in each of these venues by performing with a consistent high energy and intensity that is rarely seen. This is definitely reflected in feedback from the media, show reviews and fans.

LURE’s first studio project was a self-titled, forty minute, eight song independent creation that was recorded at Big Records (Edmonton) and officially released in November 1998. Eight powerful songs from a powerful band. With subject matter ranging from fishing tales (crucifish), the consequences of drunk driving (Bliss’s Pole) and the tongue-in cheek crowd favorite about voracious, brain eating zombies (Horror), it becomes clear to fans and new listeners that they are experiencing a unique and diverse group with character and a lot to offer. Music that grooves in your soul and grows in your mind with an aggressive heavy edge that keeps you energized. LURE also earned recognition and respect in the industry for the quality of sound they achieved with an extremely small budget. The entire budget expenditure for LURE’s first CD was approximately $3,000.00 (including layout and first print reproduction). Now, imagine what this band could produce and accomplish with a serious budget… it would be amazing.

LURE has expanded and solidified their place in local markets with the added exposure the CD and countless shows, merchandise sales and interviews have provided. The band has also gained valuable recognition and praise from television appearances on both Music City TV and the A-Channel’s WIRED program. LURE has also received excellent feedback and reviews for their airtime on college radio stations and major industry radio stations such as 100.3 FM THE BEAR in Edmonton. LURE has extensively toured western and central Canada, as far east as Winnipeg and back to the west coast Vancouver. The interest and response from the masses was outstanding. Touring enhanced and developed their fan base beyond the local scene and prepared the band for future planning, preparation, and eventually new touring to include the U.S.A. In short, the experience they gained with a successful first CD release and touring have prepared them for a bright future.

LURE has always been focused on consistent and continual exposure, assertively pursuing magazine, fanzine and radio interviews, combined with any possible television exposure to help promote and advertise their CD, their marketable image and exceptional sound.

LURE is now ready to move to the next level in pursuit of their artistic growth and independence as a serious contender in the music industry.

LURE’s sound has matured and they have been creating and performing new, dynamic and truly unique material. LURE is blowing people’s minds! Feedback from long standing fans and new listeners alike has been phenomenal. They have streamlined and perfected an original sound and musical direction that is all their own and that they have been known and acclaimed for in the past and this gives LURE enormous potential for the future…

PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE OF LURE!
