 | Kim Kelly has been performing and recording music for the last 15 years, beginning the early 80's touring Atlantic Canada with Halifax-based band, the Heumans. Kim has collaborated and recorded with some of Atlantic Canada's most treasured gems including Debbie Adshade and The Herd. Classify at your peril.
She has made numerous appearances on CBC and in 1996 won fifth place in CBC's songwriting contest with "Whose Kissing Who", a jazz number written with Steve Richard. She has been in several festivals and live events, including Bear River, Cape Breton Festival, Halifax Folk Festival and Festival by the Sea, and Art on The Edge. She has appeed on Much East with an unplugged performance of two of her songs, and performed two songs for the recording of the "Live at O'Leary's" CD in Saint John.
In 1998 Kim was awarded a production grant from the NB Sound Initiative, and began recording her original material, which led to the completion of "Sins", spanning five years of original material and devoted collaboration with some of Atlantic Canada's finest musical talent, including Sonja Adams, Dave Bartlett, Curtis Basque, John Brown, Peter Doyle, Marc Gosselin, Chris Pauley, John Pottle, Chris Pauley, Steve Richard, Rob Stafford and Steve Walsh. Sins was completed in the Sumner of 2000 and is being released under the New Brunsick indie label, Artefakt. |
