| Biography |
 | Melanie Doane, who was born in Nova Scotia, has toured with numerous artists including Jann Arden, Sarah McLachlan's Lilith Fair, Great Big Sea and The Philosopher Kings. In 1998 Melanie released the album Adam's Rib, which achieved Gold status in Canada and a Juno Award for Best New Artist, as well as a Canadian Radio Award for Most Charted New Artist.
Between album releases Melanie took time off to have a baby, and star in the movie "Black Swan", which she recently won an award for "Best Performance by an International Actress" at the New York Independent Film and Video Festival. Melanie also began writing for other artists and her song "Good Gifts" was recorded recently by R&B star Glen Lewis for AMEX and can be seen now on U.S. national spots. Her collaboration with writing partner Rick Neigher and Kristyn Osborne of the platinum selling group SheDaisy, "Man Goin Down" is a stand out track on the group's current album.
Melanie's songs have been featured on such television shows as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dawson's Creek, That's Life and Party of Five, while her song "Bionic" has been named the official song of the Rogers AT&T Cup Women's Tennis Championship for the third year. In 2002 she released Melvin Live for her fans, a live album available exclusively through her website, which captures her live brilliance and features a duet with Barenaked Ladies' Ed Robertson. |
