Traceys career began as a full-time musician in 1991 when she began playing piano with Natalie MacMaster of Troy, Cape Breton Island.
In 1993, Tracey was hired as piano accompanist for Natalie MacMaster when she recorded her album entitled "Fit As A Fiddle". From this point until late summer of 1997, Tracey and Natalie toured together; England, Ireland, Scotland, Europe, the United States, all across Canada, and even New Zealand.
Although Tracey spent most of her time doing the "Natalie gig", when time allowed, she would often find herself busy accompanying other musicians as well including many other fiddlers from Cape Breton Island, and even a few Irish fiddlers from the U.S. She spent some time on the road with the famous Scottish tenor John McDermott in the mid-90s.
In 1994 Tracey recorded her first solo CD entitled "Crooked Lake". This recording is a collection of traditional as well as some self-composed tunes performed in the Cape Breton flavor. In late spring of 1997, Tracey launched the first ever Cape Breton piano accompaniment instructional video. Featured on this video are jigs, marches, strathspeys, and reels, all targeted toward the intermediate level player. You can also enjoy some live piano solo performances from Tracey as well as a few medleys featuring Carl MacKenzie on fiddle and Paul K. MacNeil on the pipes, two of Cape Bretons finest musicians.
These days Tracey can be found in the tiny community of CastleBay on Cape Breton Island where she teaches piano instruction to children and adults out of her home. She continues to regularly play gigs around the island as well with husband Paul and such artists as Howie MacDonald, Buddy MacDonald and many others.
