The face of rock music is constantly evolving which is one of the many factors that help it to remain a fresh and vital force in todays complex entertainment industry. One of the newest groups to hit the music scene is DAISYFACE a quartet that deliver a fresh, invigorating sound. Formed in 2000 by the brother/sister duo Derek and Dana Mihalicz and friend Stephane Makarewicz, whose roots encompass such bar bands as Down With Eve and Pulltoy. Those bands were formed in Northern Alberta and were a part-time entity. The players worked at regular day jobs and played night gigs in the local watering holes. They knew they were good and they knew that to make it in the big leagues they would have to be based in a major centre. They decided to move to Winnipeg, the city that had spawned such phenomenal success stories as the Guess Who and Crash Test Dummies. Making the move in July 99, they immediately went in search of a lead singer to compliment their bass/drum/guitar line-up. It took almost a year to find the missing piece of the musical puzzle but when British born Adam Shayme stepped in front of the mic and hit his first note all three band members agreed the band was now complete. The trio had become a quartet; the various bands of the past had evolved into DAISYFACE. The next logical steps were to find the right song and producer and to start getting some paying gigs. The song, THE ROPE, was written by the group during one of their many brainstorming sessions and the producer they found was Joe Veltri. They cut The Rope at Veltris studio Joes Playground and it was one of those magic sessions where everything came together perfectly. The Rope is a slow building track that reaches a crescendo of electric excitement. Anchored by the solid drum work of Derek, the bass work of Dana and the twin guitars of Adam and Stephane this songs mysterious intrigue is brought to an emotional climax by the strong vocals of Adam. The Rope can be heard on such rock solid stations as Power 97. DAISYFACE are fresh, electric and dynamic. |
