| Biography |
 | Robin Black. The name seems so plain compared to its owner. With make-up as thick as Ru Paul's; lace, leather or latex body-wear; perhaps, a feather boa wrapped around his neck, and beneath it all, piercings, tattoos and a personality that's both down to earth and out of this world, Robin Black is prettier than Dennis Rodman in a dress.
Behold, his band, Robin Black And The Intergalactic Rock Stars. Their pop music is glamorous and decadent, their vision at once beautiful and repulsive. The three song demo, produced by premiere androgen Moe Berg of The Pursuit Of Happiness fame, contains national, make that galactic anthems for the world's citizens, the commandingly catchy "Be Your God"; "Plastic Fantastic" and "Not Ready".
While "Plastic Fantastic" shows a band with a conscience ("We wanted to incinerate you/But we really really liked your skies), the other two songs show Robin Black And The Intergalactic Rock Stars at their most arrogant and delusional. Other tracks, to be recorded at the expense of a pocket-deep multinational record label (offers are now being accepted), include "Glitter And Cobwebs", "Candy Flip", and "We Don't Love You Any More Than We Love Ourselves".
The creation of Robin Black And The Intergalactic Rock Stars is a message from the mysterious cosmic powers They are the glam rock saviours, brought to earth to make peace and love. In 1998, Robin began searching the galaxy for like-minded creatures to join his band and one day rule the universe. Eons later, he found them. Stacy Stray, the ultra cute master of guitar, was the first recruit. Killer Ky, the bass-wielding giant, brought a powerful low-end force. Kevin "Tron" Taylor added his stick-spinning fierce beat. And the young X-factor, known as Starboy, added synth, guitar and attitude.
Together, this band of renegade rock star vigilantes came to earth to dish out its brand of missionary justice. Initially, they set out to destroy the planet and its pathetic music scene. That changed when Robin Black And The Intergalactic Rock Stars quickly received acceptance and adoration from the earthlings in Toronto, Canada. The people of this fine city were drawn to these curious creatures, whose bubbles, pyro, fog machines, lazer lights and unusual appearance transformed clubs big and small into spectacles never before beheld.
It's time now to surrender yourself to Robin Black And The Intergalactic Rock Stars. They can be trusted. We think. |
